Celtic Thunder is a stylish and high-energy group that takes viewers on a musical adventure of the past, present and future. Their new special presents the perfect blend of entertainment, ideology and Gaelic spirituality, providing a modern twist on the old Celtic storytelling tradition.

The latest show from the group is Celtic Thunder: Mythology, which premieres on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV); with encore broadcasts on Sunday, March 3 at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and Wednesday, March 6 at 9:30 p.m. Filmed on location at the Helix Theater in Dublin, the special features the group returning to their roots in this musical odyssey. During the broadcast, viewers will receive a special CPTV opportunity to obtain tickets to Celtic Thunder’s upcoming Connecticut performance.

The core theme of Mythology is found in the original opening number Voices: “Voices call from the old days, voices tell from the past, ancient laws and ancient old ways to recast.” It’s the story of the Celtic people…their legends and their culture. It’s the lifeblood of modern-day Celtic people everywhere and the influences from their Celtic past. Voices is a collaboration between Celtic Thunder musical director/composer David Munro and world-renowned songwriter Brendan Graham, who also wrote the international hit You Raise Me Up.

The set of Mythology is as dramatic and imposing as the music itself. Modern catalyst images are projected onto ancient monolithic standing stones, a giant Celtic cross takes center stage and the tempo of the music is strongly echoed in the theatrical and mood lighting.

All six Celtic Thunder principals feature prominently in Mythology, from haunting solo numbers such as Carrickfergus, The Isle of Inisfree, Scarlet Ribbons, Katie, Carolina Rua and to rousing ensembles The Boys Are Back in Town, The Star of the County Down and The Rocky Road to Dublin. There are also great original tracks that were written especially for Mythology, such as the opening number VoicesHunter’s Moon performed in the show by Ryan Kelly, and My Land, the anthem that is the show’s powerful finale.
