HARTFORD, Conn (August 4, 2011) – Some of the most memorable hit songs over the past forty years have been duets. On Saturday, August 6 at 9 p.m., Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) premieres the new special, The Greatest Duets: It Takes Two. Hosted by singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins, the program showcases twelve of the greatest duets in music history, taking a nostalgic look back at the songs and superstar pairings from classic music videos and television performances.
The Greatest Duets: It Takes Two features an extraordinary line-up of famous performances, including Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell with their passionate “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough;” Elton John and Kiki Dee’s classic “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart;” “Up Where We Belong,” the Academy Award-winning best original song for An Officer and a Gentleman by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes and many more. These duets display a good deal of versatility as some of the performers paired together are from different genres of music, making for an even more interesting sound quality to the song. For example, country singer Kenny Rogers sings with pop star Sheena Easton in their rendition of Bob Segar classic “We’ve Got Tonight.”
