Barbra Streisand: One Night Only at the Village Vanguard

Release Date: 08/10/2011

HARTFORD, Conn. – (Aug. 9, 2011) – In a rare intimate performance, the incomparable Barbara Streisand performs in the new concert special, Barbra Streisand: One Night Only at the Village Vanguard, Thursday, August 11 at 8 p.m. on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV).

Taped in September 2009, 48 years after her last club performance, this new public television special was recorded in front of a select group of fans and friends who had the rare opportunity to experience Streisand in the ultimate up-close-and-personal setting. Some of Streisand’s closest friends were in attendance, including the widow of the founder of the Village Vanguard Max Gordon, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Donna Karan, her husband James Brolin and many others. Accompanied only by piano, bass, guitar and drums, the iconic performer brings new warmth and emotion to classic songs such as Here’s to Life, Gentle Rain, Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most and many more.

Streisand is accompanied at the Village Vanguard jazz club – a place where she used to sing as a teenager – by an accomplished quartet featuring Tamir Hendelman on piano, Jeff Carney playing bass, Brian Koonin on guitar and Ray Marchica playing drums. This is a performance no Streisand fan should miss.
