Premieres Thursday, June 3 at 8 p.m. on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV); with an encore presentation on Thursday, June 10 at 8 p.m.
In the past 25 years, Connecticut’s craft brewing industry has grown significantly. Its use of traditional brewing methods and attention to flavor has turned many average beer consumers into beer connoisseurs.
Join CPTV on Thursday, June 3 at 8 p.m. for the premiere of an All Things Connecticut Special Edition: The Craft Beer Show, a new special that takes a fun and informative look at the state’s fine brews. An encore presentation will be broadcast on Thursday, June 10 at 8 p.m.
Host Jason Hawkins provides insight into the craft brewing world by visiting different breweries throughout Connecticut and telling the fascinating stories behind these local brewers. Hawkins visits the Willimantic Brewery and East Hartford’s Old Burnside Brewing Company. And in the “Where’s Jason?” segment, he travels to a mystery Connecticut brewery with one of the largest beer memorabilia collections in the country. In addition, correspondent Eric Clemons meets a local man who loves to teach others how to brew beer in their own home. Hawkins is also joined by Thomas Hooker Brewery president Curt Cameron, who will school us on how to taste beer properly and how to distinguish its different flavors and notes.
Hawkins even imparts some little-known beer facts for viewers. For instance, did you know that prior to Prohibition almost every town in Connecticut had its own brewery?
During this one-hour special, there will be opportunities to obtain tickets to CPTV and WNPR’s Craft Beer and Chili Challenge event being held on Sunday, August 22 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun Arena. For more information on the event, visit beerandchili.org or contact Amy Williamson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
