CPTV to Premiere Senior Night Lineup of UConn Women’s Basketball Programming

Release Date: 02/17/2009

HARTFORD, Conn. – As Renee Montgomery, Cassie Kerns and Tahira Williams reflect on their last season at UConn, Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) will give fans a chance to do some retrospection of their own. Before the chaos of March Madness begins, CPTV invites viewers to take a look back at these talented players and their career-long contributions to the team. Tune in as CPTV premieres A Tribute to the Class of 2009 on Saturday, February 28 at 6 p.m. (with an encore presentation immediately following the UConn vs. Seton Hall game), as viewers revisit the ups and downs of the past four years with exciting game footage and fascinating interviews with players and coaches.

CPTV’s special Senior Night programming actually begins at 5 p.m. with a special broadcast of The Geno Auriemma Show – a one-hour candid conversation with UConn head coach Auriemma that will answer “What was he thinking?” as he shares strategies and thoughts about his top-ranked team. Then, tune in to A Tribute to the Class of 2009 at 6 p.m. Then, just prior to the game, CPTV will air the annual Senior Ceremony live before UConn’s game tip-off against Seton Hall at the XL Center, which begins at 7:30 p.m. on CPTV.

And for those who’ve forgotten the long road the Huskies traveled to become #1 in the country, the Connecticut Sports Network (CTSN) – a CPTV/WFSB-TV endeavor providing the state’s first-ever 24-hour local sports network – will air five previous senior ceremonies and games throughout the week of February 23. Tune in and catch a piece of Husky history on CTSN, available on Comcast cable channels 185 and 187. For complete program schedule information, visit www.ctsn.tv.
