CPTV to Air Parents & Teens Behind the Wheel in Recognition of Governor Rell’s Connecticut Safe Driving Week

HARTFORD, Conn. – In recognition of Governor Rell’s announcement that December 14 – 20 is Connecticut Teen Safe Driving Week, Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) will air a special encore presentation of the CPTV documentary Parents & Teens Behind the Wheel. The show will air on Friday, December 19 immediately following the UConn Women’s Basketball Caribbean Classic game against Northern Colorado.
 
Parents & Teens Behind the Wheel examines how teen driving habits are formed and explores how parent behavior behind the wheel can influence the conduct of newly licensed teens. The film follows five families over the course of six months, documenting the real-life issues they face during the first few months of driving, and offers the opinions of industry experts on the reality of teenage brain development and teens' ability to anticipate events that might be hazardous on the road.
 
The airing of the UConn Women’s Basketball gamewill preempt Newshour with Jim Lehrer at 7 p.m., Washington Week with Gwen Ifill at 8 p.m. and Front & Center with Ray Hardman at 8:30 p.m. However, CPTV will air Bill Moyers Journal immediately following Parents and Teens Behind the Wheel, and Bill Moyers Journal will be rebroadcast at 6 a.m. on Sunday, December 21. Parents & Teens Behind the Wheel will be rebroadcast on Saturday, December 20 at 6 p.m.
