Former House Speaker James Amann Announces Run for the Democratic Gubernatorial Nomination on OTR

HARTFORD, Conn. – On this week’s On the Record (OTR), airing on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) on Friday, February 13 at 8:30 p.m. (with repeats airing on Sunday, February 15 at 10 a.m. and Monday, February 16 at 11:30 p.m.), host Steve Kotchko is joined by James Amann, former member of the Connecticut House of Representatives (D-Milford) and Speaker of the House from 2005-2008. Amann jumped into the Democratic gubernatorial field this week, with an announcement Wednesday at the Klein Memorial in Bridgeport. He is the first candidate to formally announce his candidacy to be the Democratic party’s nominee for Governor.

Plus, in the “Notes from the Capitol” segment, Kotchko and Keith Phaneuf of the Journal Inquirer will discuss the latest developments in the state budget and the issues surrounding another deficit reduction program. In addition, they will talk about the impact the impending federal stimulus package, now targeted at $2.8 billion, will have on the state.
