CPTV Presents Mariza: Live From Lisbon Musical Special on Saturday, February 14 at 11 p.m.

HARTFORD, Conn. – Fado superstar Mariza is bringing her world tour to Connecticut’s own Fairfield University on Friday, February 20 at 8 p.m. As a Community Partner with Fairfield University, Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) is celebrating the concert by airing a special presentation of Mariza: Live From Lisbon on CPTV on Saturday, February 14 at 11 p.m.
 
Mariza is a Latin Grammy-nominated musician who has become a preeminent performer of fado, a traditional genre of Portuguese folk music that dates back to the early 19th century.Born in the former Overseas Province of Mozambique (now Mozambique), Mariza combines the traditions of fado with personal artistry to create a soulful, austere and unique sound. She brings that sound to CPTV viewers with Mariza: Live From Lisbon. This concert features some of Mariza’s greatest hits, including “Loucura” and “Maria Lisboa,” as well as new songs from her latest album, Terra. The show also features the lovely scenery of Lisbon’s Tower of Belém Garden.
