CPTV Celebrates Legendary Singer Tony Bennett with Duets: The Making of an American Classic
HARTFORD, Conn. – Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look into the creative world of Tony Bennett with Duets: The Making of an American Classic on Monday, December 1 at 9 p.m. This musical special is part of CPTV’s December 2008 membership campaign and will include information on how viewers can obtain exclusive CPTV Red Carpet tickets to see Tony Bennett live in concert.
Duets: The Making of an American Classic goes into the studio for an intimate look at the making of Bennett’s acclaimed 2006 album Duets – An American Classic. The album features some of Bennett’s biggest hits recorded live by Bennett and special accompanying guests, including Elton John, Barbara Streisand, Stevie Wonder, the Dixie Chicks and many more. Released in celebration of Bennett’s 80th birthday, Duets went platinum within three months of its release and won three Grammy Awards. Now viewers can see what went on during the making of this record-breaking album, and watch as some of their favorite singers recreate some of the best American songs of all time with the incomparable Tony Bennett.
