It all starts with Happy Holidays: The Best of Andy Williams. This music-filled program features classic clips from Williams’ legendary Christmas specials. These clips have been digitally re-mastered and are presented complete with costumed dancers, skaters and special guests, including Donny and Marie Osmond. The program also includes musical solos from Williams, who performs such Christmas favorites as “Silent Night” and “Ave Maria.”

Next comes The Boston Pops Orchestra with two back-to-back concert specials. A Pops Holiday Party consists of clips of the most festive holiday performances given by The Boston Pops over the past 35 years. Featured performers include Arthur Fiedler and John Williams, and new selections from current Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart are also highlighted. The Boston Pops continues the celebration with Holly Jolly Pops, in which the orchestra is accompanied by the hit-making band Barenaked Ladies. This untraditional concert includes updated variations of such classics as “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Three Ships” and “Green Christmas.”

Lastly, Great Performances presents Renee Fleming: Sacred Songs and Carols. Accompanied by the esteemed Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and conducted by Trevor Pinnock, internationally renowned soprano Renee Fleming performs classic Christmas songs at Germany’s scenic Mainz Cathedral. Featuring selections by Handel, Berlioz, Mozart and Shubert, Fleming creates a moving and traditional holiday tribute.
