Paula Poundstone Lights Up Our Annual Gala with Laughter This year's Annual Fall gala on Saturday, November 7.
Starts at 6:00 p.m. and features stand-up comedian Paula Poundstone, the American Comedy Award-winner and two-time recipient of the CableACE award and popular panelist on NPR's "Wait, Wait ...Don't Tell Me."
Speaking of her kids, Poundstone says, "I have long ago reduced the age old, 'nature or nurture?' question to, 'Who really cares where this comes from, wouldn't it just be nice if it stopped?'
We went to Disneyland yesterday. The captain of the 'Mark Twain,' the riverboat in Frontierland, invited my kids up to his private control room at the top of the boat. My six-year-old son got his head caught in the helm while fighting over who got to steer the boat in 'the happiest place on earth.' "
The evening will start with a cocktail reception in the stunning Museum Center lobby. The event will be co-hosted by Marilda Gandara, former president of the Aetna Foundation, and Scott O'Keefe; emcees for Poundstone's show in the Lincoln Financial Auditorium will be WFSB-TV's Dennis House and Kara Sundlun. Dinner will be followed by a spotlight dancing exhibition. Dancing, dessert and a coffee bar wind things up; a raffle and silent auction will complete the festivities.
Tickets are $200, $500 and $1,000. For information, call Susan Rich-Bye at 860-280-3117.
