In 1918, although still not allowed to become citizens of the United States, Choctaw enlistees of the American Expeditionary Forces were asked by the government to use their language as a powerful tool against the German Forces in World War I. In Choctaw Code Talkers, learn about America’s Original Code Talkers who blazed a trail for the use of Native languages as an effective military war time code.
