The Afrikan-American Cultural Awareness Association (AACAA) will sponsor an Underground Railroad walking tour of New Milford, sharing the history of the town's role in the abolition of slavery and providing aid to runaway slaves.  AACAA is a nonprofit organization that seeks to spread awareness of the African American culture in the Greater Danbury area.
All community and surrounding communities are invited to learn more about the underground railroad system, and how New Milford played a big part in it. The tour will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. All participants will meet at the Gazebo on the town's green located on Main street. AACAA  is inviting all participants  to stay for the cultural expressions at the end of the tour. You can register at 860-354-2253 or visit the AACAA web site at www.aacaa.org.
