Saybrook College Orchestra

On Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., the Saybrook College Orchestra, a group of musicians at Yale, will be performing its annual Educational Concert. This concert is FREE (RSVP required) and designed especially for children. The orchestra will be playing Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Suite, Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Greensleeves, Guaraldi's A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Anderson's Sleigh Ride. This fun-filled program will be accompanied by an educational presentation by members of the Yale Children's Theater designed to introduce the audience to some basics about orchestras.

The concert will take place in Battell Chapel (corner of College & Elm Streets, New Haven). Schools and students from all over Connecticut will be invited, so you must RSVP* as soon as possible to gabriel.ellsworth@yale.edu to secure a spot. More information on SYO can be found at http://www.yale.edu/syorchestra/. Parents and kids, encourage the music teachers you know at your local elementary and middle schools to plan a field trip! Teachers, talk to your principals now about making a trip for an event that your students will be sure to enjoy.

*RSVP's should include your name, where you are from, and how many people are in your group [teachers: please indicate how many are students and how many are teachers, and in what grade(s) the students are].
