Come aboard, enjoy winter while experiencing the beauty and solitude of the lower Connecticut River, home to migrating and resident Bald Eagles, and other wintering wildlife. A naturalist will talk about eagle biology and ecology, and point out other wintering birds and wildlife seen on our cruise. Winter wildlife sighted in 2012: peregrine falcon, ruddy duck, common merganser, mallard, dark and light morph rough legged hawk, red tail hawk, red shouldered hawk, northern harrier, hooded merganser, wood duck, black duck, American widgeon, ring necked duck, ring tailed duck, scaup, goldeneye, bufflehead, mute swan, great cormorants, double crested cormorants, great blue heron, long tail duck, canada geese, turkey vulture, black vulture, osprey and some quick views of harbor and harp seals. RiverQuest has a fully enclosed heated cabin, enough to take the chill off, but, dress warm because you will want to be outside for most of the journey observing our wintering wildlife up close.
