Enjoy an intimate evening of poetry and music among the Impressionist masterpieces in Hill-Stead’s Drawing Room, as poet Susan Kinsolving and her husband, William Kinsolving, read selections from The Music Lover’s Poetry Anthology (Persea Books, 2008), accented by soprano Ann Hoyt and tenor Tommy Wazelle performing two Puccini arias and a Sondheim solo. Anthology co-editor Helen Handley Houghton will speak about the relationship between music and poetry, with a program featuring light and amusing poems to heartfelt, moving descriptions of the power of music. A dessert reception follows the program.
The Music Lover’s Poetry Anthology is “a deeply moving and inspiring collection of poems about music—a revelation of the mystical bond between our ears and our minds, our lyrics and our melodies, our lives and our dreams.” Judy Collins
