Passing the Torch Luncheon: Honoring the Past, Present & Future
Saturday, March 24, 2012 1pm-4pm
Walk Worthy Brands was founded by Daemond Benjamin, a native of Hartford, CT. The organization is emerging and encourages human beings to live a life of purpose and determination. Our organization was inspired from a sermon focusing on Ephesians 4:1 "Therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called."
The luncheon is an effort to encourage young people to become involved with creating change in our community, while honoring the pioneers who paved the way for the opportunities we enjoy today. Many of our veteran community leaders have labored tirelessly to advance our community. In 2012, we believe it is time for young people to become more engaged with the blessing and support of our trailblazers. Our guest speaker is Dr. Marc Lamont Hill of Columbia University.
Dr. Marc Lamont Hill is one of the leading hip-hop generation intellectuals in the country. His work, which covers topics such as culture, politics and education, has appeared in numerous journals, magazines, books and anthologies. Dr. Hill has lectured widely and provides regular commentary for media outlets such as NPR, Washington Post, Essence Magazine and the New York Times.
The event will be held at CCSU Institute of Technology & Business Development:
185 Main St. New Britain, CT. Cost is $25/person.
This event is sponsored by Supreme Clientele and The Main Avent.
