Nicholas White, organist, and Timothy Wallace, pianist, will be performing in a piano/organ duet at Trinity Episcopal Church, Torrington on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. as part of the Trinity Arts Series season. There is no admission fee, but there will be a free will offering which will benefit the church’s Clock Tower Renovation Project.
The program entitled, ”Orchestral Titans” will feature The Planet by Holst, and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto, as well as solo selections for piano and organ, and a special arrangement of Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever.
Nicholas White is Organist and Choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Church and is Artistic Director and Executive Director of Joyful Noise, the parent organization of Chorus Angelicus & Gaudeamus. He is also the founder and director of the Tiffany Consort, a New York based vocal ensemble. White was born and trained in London, England and came to this country in 1989 and was Organist and Choirmaster at St. Michael’s Church, New York City, Assistant Organist and Choirmaster at Washington Cathedral, Washington, DC, and Organist and Choirmaster at All Saints Episcopal Church, Philadelphia, PA.
Timothy Wallace is the founder of Studio 59, a performance gallery offering quality classical concerts in an historic church in Torrington. He is also a noted pianist, organist and composer, He was educated at Southern Methodist University and was a student of Pierette Mouledous of the Paris Conservatory of Music. He has served as principal accompanist for the Dallas Ballet Conservatory and Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, and has been Organist and Choir Director at St Paul’s Episcopal; Church, Woodbury, CT, Second Congregational Church, Newcastle, Maine, and St. John’s United Methodist Church, San Antonio, Texas.
Trinity was built in 1898 and its clock and bell tower is now in need of major repairs. Over 100 years of rain and snow have infiltrated the tower causing interior beams to rot and are threatening to collapse under the weight of the clock tower bell. An estimated $500,000 is needed to repair and preserve the Tower for another 100 years.
