The New Britain Chorale will present a fall concert on Nov. 9, 2008 at 4 p.m. at Trinity-On-Main, 69 Main St., New Britain. The concert will be staged in the beautiful Rotunda room in the historic building. The New Britain Chorale is an amateur chorus featuring singers from throughout central Connecticut and is affiliated with the New Britain Area Council of Churches. The Chorale is supported entirely by grants and donations. The concert is free to the public, but a free-will offering will be taken to help defray concert expenses.
"Postcards from America" will be a short, up-lifting hour of folk songs and spirituals. Selections will range from Copeland settings of several favorites and lesser-known songs to John Rutter's "Gaelic Blessing." "Goin' Home," set to one of the themes from Dvorak's "New World" Symphony, would move a stone to tears. The audience will hear a lovely version of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" arranged by the conductor and a medley of "Ain-a That Good News" and "Ain't Got Time To Die" that will rock the house. William Hiely, Chorus Master of the CHorale, will conduct. Nathaniel Baker will serve as piano accomplanist. The concert will be followed by a reception for those attending.
