On November 9 at 7:30 pm, Martin Fletcher will be the first in the NEW Jewish Book Festival series of celebrity authors to visit West Hartford’s Mandell JCC during 2008 and 2009. Mr. Fletcher is a five-time Emmy Award -winning news correspondent and NBC Bureau Chief in Tel Aviv. Over the past 30 years, he has covered major news stories in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South Africa.

From tense moments with Khmer Rouge guerillas to the aftermath of Tiananmen Square, Fletcher has made a career of being at the front lines of breaking news. Now he recounts these tumultuous events and his life in broadcast news in his passionate and personable memoir, Breaking News. Tom Brokaw writes, “Martin Fletcher has given us a stunning and memorable account of the risks, rewards, complexities, and enduring lessons of reporting from some of the most dangerous places in the world.”
