Marlene Sanders, a triple Emmy-Award winning correspondent, producer and writer, will open the Merryall Center for the Arts 2013 lecture series.
From the Vietnam conflict through anchoring a prime time news program to the network corporate structure, she broke barriers for women in the media.
Her work has taken her through ABC, CBS, PBS and HBO; she now teaches Advanced Television Reporting at New York University.
This year’s lecture series theme is “The Media.” Other speakers will include Art Cummings, editor emeritus of The News-Times, discussing local news in the digital age.
A third presentation will cover how television prepares to cover breaking disasters such as the Newtown shootings.
Lectures will be offered through October.
