Noted archaeologist, Ernie Wiegand, will present an overview of Native American prehistory and adaptation in southern New England as revealed by the archaeology of Connecticut and surrounding areas.  Beginning with the Ice Age, Native Americans entered the Northeast and began a long process of adaptation and adjustment to a variety of environmental conditions over several thousand years.  Dr. Wiegand is the coordinator of Norwalk Community College's "Archaeology as an Avocation" ceertificate program in archaeology and works as a consulting archaeologist for public and private groups complying with federal Cultural Resource management regulations.
