The Connecticut Choral Society (CCS) will present “INSPIRE,” a tapestry of voices united in song, with soloists Keith Harris and Megan Knapp Saturday, May 18, at 8 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Danbury and Sunday, May 19, at 3 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Naugatuck.
Maestro Eric Knapp will lead the ensemble's 75 auditioned voices in singing Schubert's Mass in G, Durufle's Ubi Caritas, Mozart's Laudate Dominum, Rutter's Gaelic Blessing, Vaughan Williams' Antiphon, Gabriel's Oboe (the theme song from "The Mission") and Rutter's Dona Nobis Pacem (from Mass of the Children). The group also will sing an original arrangement by CCS tenor and composer-in-residence Rick Ryan of What Wondrous Love is This, a haunting Appalachian hymn from the 1800s.
Soloist Harris, a baritone, has sung with the Metropolitan Opera and has appeared on the stages of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Soloist Knapp performed with CCS during its Candlelight and Carols concerts last December.
Purchase tickets at $25 for adults and $15 for youth at www.ctchoralsociety.org or call 203-206-7186. Tickets also will be available at the door.
