AT NIANTIC BAPTIST CHURCH
AN EVENING OF CHAMBER MUSIC WITH THE FONDA-KAAIJ DUO
Wednesday, March 19, 7:00 p.m.
443 Main St., Niantic, CT

Music-lovers take note! Dutch musicians Douw Fonda, cello, and Martin Kaaij, guitar, will offer an evening of chamber music.

Fonda, who is originally from Connecticut, is a sought-after chamber musician in the Netherlands and is also the assistant principal cellist of one of the country’s preeminent orchestras, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in Amsterdam. He holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the State University of New York at Stony Brook, as well as a Certificate in Baroque Cello from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He is a member of the Vespucci String Quartet and the founder of "Muziek op de Dijk' (Music on the Dike) in his current home town of Deil, the Netherlands.

Martin Kaaij is a native of the Netherlands and is a well-known performer, recording artist, and author. He particularly enjoys searching out new repertoire for the guitar, a labor of love he began during his studies with Dick Visser at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and which continues to this day. Kaaij has performed the premiers of more than 60 new works for the guitar, and he continues to delight audiences with his performances of both new and familiar works.

The program will include works by Dowland, Bach, Nin and Schubert. Tickets for the program, which is expected to last about 90 minutes, are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be reserved by calling the church office at 860-739-5131. Tickets will also be available at the door.
