 IAIS Director of Reserach and Collections, Lucianne Lavin, Ph.D. will present "Native Americans in Western Connecticut: Suriving European Settlement. This powerpoint is based on themes introduced in her new book Connecticut's Indgenous Peoples: What Archaeology, History, and Oral Traditions Teach Us about their Communities and Cultures. 

She will discuss the great changes to natural and social environments cuased by the European settlement of Connecticut, their calamitous effects on indigenous peoples, and the various strageties endorsed by Native American Leadership to promote survival of their communities.
