David Kaplan

The Maxwell Shepherd Memorial Arts Fund will present New York-based pianist David Kaplan in a free concert as part of the The Shepherd Music Series at Collinsville Congregational Church, March 4, 2012, at 4 p.m.  Mr. Kaplan's program will include two late works of Johannes Brahms, his opus 116 Fatasien and his opus 118 Intermezzi as well as two early works of Robert Schumann, Davidsbundlertanze, opus 6 and Carnaval, opus 9.  A reception and a chance to meet the artist will follow the performance.  The Collinsville Congregational Church is located at 7 South Street on the Village Green in historic Collinsville Connecticut.

Since his debut as the age of nine, pianist David Kaplan has been lauded for his "grace and fire" (Boston Globe) and his "striking imagination and creativity" (New York Times).  He recently received the plaudits of New York Times chief music critic Anthony Tommasini, who found Kaplan's interpretation of Schumann's Carnaval, "rousing...triumphant".
