A great date show. A perfect mating dance. It’s Seinfield set to music!

Rehearsals are underway for the Darien Arts Center’s (DAC) Cabaret Theatre production of the hilarious musical comedy, “I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change,” which will be presented for two weekends, Friday and Saturday, April 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m., Sunday, April 15 at 4 p.m. in the DAC Weatherstone Studio, 2 Renshaw Road, Darien (behind Town Hall).

“I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change” features music by Jimmy Roberts with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro. When it closed, the historic musical revue, about love and marriage in the suburbs, had played 5,003 performances, making it the second longest-running musical in off-Broadway history (second only to “The Fantasticks”).

Directed by Stefanie DeLeo (Norwalk), with music direction from Dwayne Condon (Darien), “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is presented in the form of a series of vignettes connected by the central theme of love and relationships. The play's tagline is: "Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit!"

The musical, which delves into the world of dating, features George Alberts (Norwalk), Rebecca Cooper (Greenwich), Regina Elliott (Stamford), Joe Guttadauro (Norwalk), Jenifer Menedis (Darien), and Larry Reina (Port Chester, NY). Producing are Mary Crawford (Darien), Linda Wilson (Stamford), and Anne Wright (Darien). Michael DuPont (Redding) will design lighting, and Pat Atkin (Darien) as always, is ticket doyenne.
