A collaboration with New York’s most daring contemporary music band:

the FIREWORKS ensemble!

Looking for a meaningful and different way to experience a REQUIEM concert on All Souls day?

Fireworks is an amplified chamber band with a repertoire that encompasses an extraordinary range of styles, including Frank Zappa’s instrumental rock, traditional Americana, ambient techno, and 20th century orchestral scores, just to name a few.

Now the vocal ensembles of Chorus Angelicus & Gaudeamus, conducted by artistic director Gabriel Löfvall, join forces with this unique band to offer their latest creation: Connecticut native composer Brian Coughlin’s REQUIEM, a new vision of the timeless mass for the dead, revisited in Coughlin’s eclectic style.

Think Gregorian chant meets Stravinsky and then add the grandiose choral sounds of Arvo Part and Carl Orff.  Come find out for yourself!

Tickets: $40 (preferred), $20 (regular), $10 (student)

The choirs of Chorus Angelicus & Gaudeamus rank as one of Connecticut’s finest musical treasures. Chorus Angelicus, the internationally acclaimed children’s choir, has impressed audiences with the best of choral music since its founding in 1991 by five-time Grammy winner Paul Halley.

Past performances have included collaborations with Celtic music legend Clannad, the Hartford Symphony, and the Paul Winter Consort, in venues such as Boston’s Symphony Hall, the Music Shed, Infinity Hall, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

Chorus Angelicus has toured nationally and internationally.  Gaudeamus is an adult chamber choir of professional and semi-professional singers formed in 1992.

This impressive choir often performs in conjunction with Chorus Angelicus or on its own.  Chorus Angelicus & Gaudeamus have produced seven CDs of their own astonishing work.  Production of their eighth CD, comprised of exhilarating renditions of the music of Latin America, is already under way.
