Taft School Adjunct Music Faculty

A musical celebration featuring Taft's adjunct music faculty.

George Kroqi, cellist, graduated in 1990 from Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana, Albania. He was the principal cellist of the orchestra of the academy for three years, also principal cellist of the String Chamber Orchestra in Shkodra. In 1998 he finished his M.M. in cello performance at the Hoch Schule fuer Music und Dadrstellende Kunst in Gratz, Austria. Mr. Kroqi has made numerous performances in Austria, Italy, and here in Connecticut. He us currently a member of various instrumental organizations such as the Waterbury Symphony, New Britain Symphony, and the Wallingford Symphony. Mr. Kroqi is the cello teacher at the Taft School and the Chase Collegiate School. He also teaches privately and is the string coach for the Greater Waterbury Youth  Symphony.


Fred Krug, guitarist, holds a bachelor degree with high honors from the Eastman School of Music where he studied classical guitar performance under Nicholas Goluses, composition under Stephen Fruend, classical theory under Alec Brinkman, and post-tonal theory under Ciro Scotto. As a founding member of the Eastman Guitar quartet, he has premiered works by Tellef Johnson and Matthew Fuerst, and, with that group, was featured in the Eastman School of Music pop symposium where he opened for Steve Vai (Whitesnake and David Lee Roth). This meeting of styles inspired Tellef Johnson to write The Prisoner, a piece for string quartet, heavy metal trio, and male soprano, which Fred premiered at Julliard's VIA festival (Life Through Art). He has also played in master classes with Bruce Holzman and William Kanengeiser (L.A. Guitar Quartet). He currently performs as a soloist, as a member of the Louis Romeo and Fred Krug Duo, and as a member of the Jazz Soul Fusion group Closed 'Til Dark.  Fred has worked extensively as a producer, developing and recording bands and solo artists. Bands include Dakota, Pushing Mary, Opanna Oxtium, Veloray, Country Music Radio, and The Busted Honeys. With these groups, he has performed at the Knitting Factory, CBGB's, Galapagos, Mohegan Sun, The Block Island Music Festival, and NY Symphony Space. He has also worked alongside legendary producer Paul Leka (Steam, Harry Chapin, REO Speedwagon). He is currently producing country artist Emily Colt. Mr. Krug has developed an innovative curriculum to teach guitar, classical theory, and voice to a variety of students age 5-70+. He taught at the National Guitar Summer Workshop at the age of 18, where he performed with Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big and Racer X), John Pettrucci (Dream Theater), Joe Bouchard (Blue Oyster Cult), and has since set up residency at the Woodbury Guitar Studio in Woodbury, CT. Fred is a visiting artist in the Region 15 school system, and has been the guitar instructor at the Rumsey Hall School.


Lisa Laquidara, violinist, received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Hartt School of Music where she studied violin with Charles Treger and Philip Seltzer. She has performed in master classes for members of the Emerson Quartet and Manhattan Quartet and has played in numerous orchestras across Connecticut including the Waterbury Symphony, Hartford Symphony, New Britain Symphony, and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony. In addition to teaching violin at Taft, Lisa maintains private teaching studios in Watertown and Bristol and continues to perform in several orchestras.


Pianist, Ray Pierpont, studied at the Hartt College of Music in Hartford, CT., and at Boston University. His teachers have included Anne Koscielny, Raymond Hanson and Anthony de Bonaventura. He previously served as piano faculty at the Gunnery School and the Naugatuck Valley Community College, and is currently a member of the music faculty at the Taft School. Mr. Pierpont is also Minister of Music at the Dewitt Reformed Church in New York City.
