Culture Connect Featured Event
Corn has long been an integral part of the annual cycle of life for many Native American people and when the first tender ears are ripe for picking it is cause for celebration. Join IAIS staff and friends at the Ninth Annual Green Corn Festival as we welcome the first corn of the season with music, food, family & fun.
This year we are honored to welcome back the Native Nation Dancers, Schaghticoke, Objiwa and Lumbee, dancing both Northern and Southern Traditional styles. Also joining us this year is the all female drumming group, Spirit of Thunderheart of Schaghticoke, Mohawk, Blackfoot, Cree and Cherokee ancestry; musician Allan Madahbee, Ojibwa; Storyteller Janis Us, Mohawk-Shinnecock descent; and Abenaki Chef and Author, Dale Carson.
Come and enjoy fun-filled activities for the whole family including drumming, dancing, kids’ crafts, storytelling, powwow style food, arts and crafts for sale and much more. Held Rain or Shine
