Ticket Price: free

Celebrate the arrival of autumn in Chester Center on Friday night, Sept. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m., the 22nd annual Come Home to Chester. The galleries, stores, and restaurants will be bustling with special openings and events, such as C&G’s booksigning for L&E bartender Michael Bellesiles' new (tenth) book, “A People’s History of the U.S. Military”; Maple and Main Gallery’s Second Anniversary Show of all new paintings and sculpture by 31 artists and four guest artists; Leif Nilsson’s oil paintings, Caryn Davis’s and Al Malpa’s photographs; and the exhibit by famed Old Lyme photographer William Burt at C&G along with his signing of Jan and Peter Good’s just-released calendar, BIRD 2013. Throughout the center there will be traces of fairies and fairy gardens for all to enjoy. Children will delight in helping construct a fairy house of materials from nature with artist Barbara Timberman at Maple & Main Gallery. Enjoy the complimentary refreshments and beverages at all the stores. Chester is located at exit 6 on Rte. 9, which is easily accessible from I-95 and I-91. Free parking is available in walking distance of the shops and galleries.
