The 11th annual Kitchen Tour to benefit the Housatonic Musical Theatre Society will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 10 am – 4 pm.
This year’s tour will feature six kitchens in the towns of Kent and Cornwall.
Proceeds will support Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s production of “Hello Dolly!” in March 2014 under the leadership of Michael Berkeley and Lori Belter.
Kitchens on the tour will range in style and size to inspire a variety of approaches to the “heart of the home.” This year's homes include a barn designed for entertaining with a large kitchen island and table with cherry wood from a backyard tree.
Early Modern House finished in 1939 for Pulitzer Prize winner Hatcher Hughes.
It was been recently restored by the present owners to its original splendor. A restored barn with two storybook cottages; a house built for large crowds and family get-togethers featuring a beautiful screened-in detached room with a massive stone fireplace. A center hall colonial that is a complete renovation featuring a large center kitchen island, a bar area and a traditional dining room.
Kitchen fans can look forward to another great line-up of unique and awe-inspiring kitchens. Over the past years this tour, with its wide range of styles from cozy country chic to breathtaking ultra modern, has grown in popularity, stated Colleen McGuire, chair of the Kitchen Tour. “Every year we see groups of friends piling out of their cars at each stop, enthusiastic to have an up-close look at the many ideas and innovations that have put these Connecticut kitchens on our map!”
"The Kitchen Tour’s support of the high school musical experience is immeasurable as it offers students far more than just the fun of a show. It empowers students with a strengthened self-esteem, pride and confidence that enriches all parts of their lives," said Michael Berkeley, Director and Musical Director of the HMTS productions.
To enhance the experience of Kitchen Tourists, local caters and restaurants will be offering a sampling of delicacies at each kitchen on the tour. There will also be a number of raffle prizes offered. Advance Kitchen Tour ticket buyers will receive two complimentary raffle tickets for the various raffle prize drawings.
Sponsors of the Kitchen Tour and March musical are Belter Builders, Best & Cavallaro Real Estate, Elyse Harney Real Estate, Herrington’s, William Perotti & Sons, Sharon Hospital, Torrington Savings Bank, Davis IGA, Lovell Orthodontics, Pierce K. Kearney Design & Build and Salisbury Bank.
HMTS is a theater organization based at Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village, CT where students of all levels of experience are encouraged to participate, either onstage or backstage, in the annual musical.
Founded in 2003 by Lori Belter and Michael Berkeley, HMTS is proud of its contribution to the artistic and educational experiences of the students.
Tickets for the Kitchen Tour are $35 in advance and $40 the day of the Tour.
