Position: Internship: CPBN Media Lab
1049 Asylum Ave., Hartford, CT
Reports to: Manager of Education,


Availability:  Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer semesters

Hours:   15-20 hours per week

Supervisor:         Manager of Education

Internship Summary:     Interns will have a unique hands-on immersive educational experience creating original content to both build their student portfolios and support all public and digital media outlets of CPBN, including CPTV, CPTV4U, CPTV Sports, WNPR and online and interactive media. In this National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences award winning educational production unit, interns will earn college credit while learning and performing all the media creation production tasks, from pre-production planning and production through post-production editing and posting using the Adobe Master Collection and 2 and 4K cameras. Media Lab graduates are working throughout the media industry, including as animators, editors and film professionals in Hollywood and at GoPro, Democracy Now!, Fox News, WFSB, WTNH, CPTV, Viking Penguin Books, NBC30 and A&E.  



  • Perform pre-production tasks (equipment set-up, set preparation, etc)
  • Perform production tasks (video camera operation, sound acquisition, lighting placement, etc.)
  • Perform post-production tasks (video, sound, and image editing, writing and editing, posting videos and articles to online outlets, etc.)
  • Research and develop story ideas
  • Write, edit, and post articles for online publication
  • Write, edit and narrate scripts
  • Conduct phone and on-camera interviews
  • Assist and create social media posts for the Media Lab (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Knowledge of computers and the Internet
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Knowledge of photography/video equipment and production techniques
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and/or telephone skills

  • Strong desire to learn
  • Experience with Adobe products and systems preferred
