Democratic voters in two major Connecticut cities chose their nominees for mayor last night. In Hartford, Mayor Eddie Perez cruised to an easy victory in a crowded primary field, taking roughly half of the vote against three major opponents. Perez could face as many as 3 more opponents in the general election, including one candidate he defeated in the primary.
In Bridgeport, a bitter fight between veteran state lawmakers Bill Finch and Chris Caruso has ended in dispute. Finch is claiming a narrow victory, but Caruso says he’ll challenge the results in court. WNPR’s Av Harris reports.
