IAIS is proud to highlight the basketry of Liz Charlebois, Abenaki Descent, for the months of April through June. She has been making sweetgrass and black ash fancy baskets for ten years, learning as an apprentice with Master Abenaki basket maker Jeanne Brink. In keeping the tradition alive, Liz has begun teaching her young daughter the craft.
Alpaca Day with Bella Alpacas Farm
For centuries Native South American Peoples have kept alpacas as pack animals and for the use of their wool, one of the softest in the world. Join us as we welcome Bella Alpacas Farm and two of their beautiful alpacas to learn all about these wonderful animals. See how the fiber is spun and knit into clothing, then watch eight- year old Nico demonstrate how he has trained the alpacas to show! Program starts at 2:00pm

Featured selections will tip a hat to some of the countries Mark Twain visited in his travels abroad, and will also include songs popular from Mark Twain’s America. Come and enjoy special exhibits or a house tour before the concert. Voluntary offering.
"Keys" Goes to the Movies
Following a red carpet arrival, the first 250 guests will be ushered onto the Palace stage and seated at one of the night’s movie-themed tables, where they'll be transported to a variety of locations from Hollywood’s famous films, including the Moroccan coast of Casablana, the terrifying terrain of Jurrassic Park, and the out-of-this-world E.T. experience.
The evening’s entertainment will once again be provided by Keys to the City’s dueling piano players, who will tackle soundtrack staples from Dirty Dancing to Saturday Night Fever, as well as guests’ musical requests.
The night will also feature food stations by Emily’s Catering Group, complimentary cocktails (2 per person), and a live drawing announcing the winners of the Palace's 2012 Annual Raffle.
Proceeds benefit the Palace's Annual Campaign.

The Newington Children’s Theatre Company has announced auditions for their Summer Teen Musical Program, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Auditions for teens, ages 15-18, will be held by appointment on Friday, June 1st, from 6:30-8:30pm, and on Saturday, June 2nd, from 10:00am-1:00pm.
Each audition will last approximately five minutes.
Callbacks will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, beginning at 3:00pm. Teens are asked to prepare a comedic monologue and musical theatre song of their choice, not to exceed combined time of three minutes.
Based on the beloved Charles M. Shultz comic strip, Peanuts, YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN, will be directed by Christa Pizzoferrato and choreographed by Jessie Sattler.
Rehearsals will be held July 2 through July 29, Monday through Thursday from 6:00-9:00pm and Fridays from 6:00-8:00pm.
Performances will be July 27-29, Friday and Saturday at 7:00pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm.
Auditions, rehearsals and performances will be held at the NCTC Performing Arts Theatre located at 743 North Mountain Road in Newington.
Please note while there is no cost to audition, if cast, there is at $250 participation fee.

Leapin’ Lizards! NCTC’s Summer Theatre Arts Program is Filling Up!
Back by popular demand, the Newington Children’s Theatre Company’s five-week full-day SUMMER THEATER ARTS PROGRAM, for kids ages 8-15, gives participants the opportunity to learn and strengthen their musical theatre skills by working with theatre professionals in acting, dance and music. Participants receive hands-on experience by having the opportunity to apply the skills that they are learning throughout the program while preparing for a fully staged production of the beloved musical, ANNIE.
The SUMMER THEATRE ARTS PROGRAM runs July 2nd through August 5th, Monday through Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm at the NCTC Performing Arts Theatre located at 743 North Mountain Road in Newington. Before and aftercare are available.
The SUMMER THEATRE ARTS PROGRAM will be run by NCTC’s Executive/Artistic Director, Claire Van Cott and choreographed by NCTC vet, Jessie Sattler. Every registered participant will receive a role in the show.
Public performances will be August 2nd-5th, Thursday-Saturday at 7:00pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm. The cost for this five-week program is $1,250.

Charles Ruger studied art history and politics at Connecticut College and Columbia University. He is a self-taught photographer whose work figures into private and corporate collections internationally.
