Opening Reception – New Exhibits at the Silvermine Galleries
Vincent Baldassano – Solo Exhibit“The Expressionist Experiment” – A retrospective exhibition of artistic production by the artist. “My paintings are based on my imagination, which in turn deal with my visual and audible experiences. They are the improvisation and expression of paint and painting.” Utilizing bold colors and expressive compositions, this collection spans over 40 years of the artists work.
Director’s Choice: Belle Manes“Bamidbar” – A collection of works that reflects the artist’s journey, vision and search through life. Her works of oil on canvas are comprised of memories of the past to learn from, the present to apply what we learn and the future which gives us the dreams and incentive to grow from the present. Manes’ paintings reflect that journey.

Woodbury painter Matt Wood exhibits "Pentimento"
Woodbury painter Matt Wood returns to nature’s essence
in “Pentimento” exhibition at Good News Cafe & Gallery
Woodbury artist Matt Wood returns to the essence of the subjects he paints from the natural world in his new exhibition titled “Pentimento,” showing through Jan. 5, 2009, at the Good News Cafe and Gallery, 694 Main Street South, Woodbury.
A native of southern California, Wood began his artistic odyssey with painting studies at the University of Iowa influenced by the work of Mauricio Lasansky. Wood notes that his own Polish and Russian heritage, and his marriage to Polish native Joanna Czaderna, have established a natural affinity for Lasansky’s passionate approach to the creative process that seeks to use art as a means to raise personal awareness.
Good News Cafe & Gallery is open from 11:30 am to 10 pm daily; closed Tuesdays.
