The new CEO of United Technologies has made his first major management change at the Hartford based conglomerate.
In April Louis Chenevert took over from his storied predecessor George David as head of UTC. Now he’s created a new position, president of commercial businesses. That job will go to Ari Bousbib, who currently heads up Otis Elevator. In his new role, Bousbib will oversee operations at all of UTC’s non defense related companies – Otis, as well as Carrier heating and airconditioning, UTC Fire and Security and fuel cell division UTC Power. He’ll also be in charge of UTC’s international operations.
Bousbib has been phenomenally successful since taking over the reins at Otis six years ago, the division has seen profits triple. But the company was also embroiled in scandal, fined in the European union for operating cartels with other elevator makers. Stepping into Bousbib’s shoes at Otis is Didier Michaud, who now heads up European operations for the elevator division. He’ll move from London to Connecticut.
