It is Sunday May 9th, at 3:00 pm, and I am sitting at JFK airport at Gate 12. My flight is supposed to depart at 5:40 pm however I was told earlier today that it will be delayed 4.5 hours, making our new departure time 10:00 pm. I’m assuming this is due to the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland and the ash that is spreading across Europe, but I don’t know for sure. Somehow I have to find ways to pass the time for seven hours.
Security was a breeze, so that’s at least a positive note. My family is very concerned since this is the first time I’m traveling by myself, and to a foreign country no less. I’m very excited to get into France, despite any travel delays. I have orientation with Creative Minds tomorrow and Tuesday and then meet with ITN on Wednesday, which is the opening night of the festival. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I might be able to go to the opening film premier.
This year’s opening film is Robin Hood, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. It opens in the United States May 14th, but I’m hoping to get a sneak preview!
