When you think of a stay-at-home mom, the images of Carol Brady or June Cleaver probably come to mind. I can assure you that the stay-at-home mom of today has more to deal with than either of those moms could even imagine (think video games, Facebook, and 24 hour texting).
I grew up in a small town on the Connecticut River. How small is it? Only the people who live there know where it is. I graduated from CCSU, got married and worked for five years in accounting before leaving the world of balance sheets and weekly paychecks for diapers and playgroups.
I remember thinking what a relief it would be to be able to stay home and get all the projects done that never seemed to get done while I was working. News flash, eighteen years later some of those projects still aren’t done. Who would have thought that raising four kids would take up so much time?
Now that the kids are teenagers, I have been writing human-interest stories for a Connecticut company’s internal newspaper.
Through this blog, I will share some thoughts about what happens…when mom stays home.
