So, here are some updates on stories we've covered on Where We Live.

• Heroin busts continue in Hartford and surrounding area.  We were talking about this a few weeks back. Meanwhile, we'll be doing a live show soon from Willimantic, christened "Heroin Town" by the Courant in a troubling series of reports in 2002.  A lot has changed there since the stories done by the paper, CBS 60 Minutes and even a slightly younger version of myself for NPR.  The "Heroin Town" tag still rankles people in the community, who've long felt it to be unfair.  We'll talk about what's happening in the community now, and how it's moved on from the bad national publicity.  (We'll likely do this at the Willimantic Brewing Company, an amazing brew pub in an old Post Office) 
• Some movement on the bill to de-criminalize small amounts of marijuana.  Senator Martin Looney was on our show recently.  His bill passed out of committee with some changes, but faces a certain veto from the Governor.  Is this the sort of legislation where Democrats can wield their little-used "super majority?"  
• My blog entry about NPR's newspaper subscription policy got picked up by public broadcasting's trade magazine, Current.  I lay out a few ideas about the future of collaborations between newspapers and public radio.  NPR President Vivian Schiller is quoted from her appearance on the show. 
• Two takes on a story that WNPR's Lucy Nalpathanchil has talked about on Where We Live, New Haven's municipal ID program.  First, the New Haven Register.  Now, the New Haven Independent.
