While they may take comfort from the fact that they are not alone, a new study shows that being laid off during a recession may have permanent effects on your earning ability.

UConn economist Professor Kenneth Couch teamed with researchers at the state Department of Labor to crunch the numbers on layoffs and wages.  He spoke with Morning Edition's Ray Hardman.
