The Future of the State Republican party
Article Audio
For state Republicans, election night can be summed up in one word - disappointment. Besides losing the presidential race, and all of U.S. House seats in Connecticut, they also lost seats in the state house and senate.
WNPR's Ray Hardman was at the new state Republican Headquarters in New Britain on election night. Most Republicans he talked were supporters of a the state constitutional convention. Again, more disappointment.
As the final results trickled in late last night, Ray sat down with state Republican Party chair Chris Healy to talk about the election, what went wrong, and what state and national Republican party leaders can do better next time.
