Controversial Evangelical pastor Rick Warren has reached out to conservative Episcopalians at St. James in Newport Beach, CA. The congregation lost its battle with its local diocese over church property disputes and Warren is offering the group space at the campus of his Saddleback church.

Some gay Episcopalians view Warren's efforts as an insult to the Episcopal church in light of his giving the invocation at President elect Barack Obama's inauguration on Tuesday.

WNPR's John Nowacki asked Bishop Andrew Smith of the CT Episcopal Diocese about how the local church views the timing of Pastor Warren's offer.
