Election night emotion all around

When was the last time you felt really good about politics?  When did you last feel like something was changing...not because of who is elected, but what the process has done to people?

Throughout our election night coverage on WNPR, we were hit with these moments.

My very favorite moments were provided by voters, sharing their stories.  The man who took his 84-year-old African American mother to the polls.  The young people voting for the first time.  And this, from Nancy Cohen's story about the polls in Bridgeport:

56 year old Brenda Jernigan, who voted for Barack Obama at 6 this morning, says she never thought she’d live to see the day when a black man could be President.  “I voted and right now it’s like I’m on fire. Just like overwhelmed.”

I'm usually cynical about things...or, at best skeptical.  Tonight I'm not.
