The General Assembly's Education Committee must vote today on several bills aimed at getting Connecticut in a better position to win federal stimulus dollars under President Obama's Race to the Top program. Race to the Top awards grants to states that are willing to reform their school systems, and turn around their lowest achieving schools. Connecticut did not make the list of 16 finalists in the first round of Race to the Top.
Joining us by phone to talk about the legislation and Connecticut's chances in the second round is Alex Johnston. He's Chief Executive Officer for the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now, or, ConnCan.
