Richard Egarr, conductor of the Academy of Ancient MusicThe Academy of Ancient Music is world-renowned for their interpretations ofBaroque and Classical works…the music of composers like Bach, Handel, Telemann, and Mozart….and even of Beethoven.
Their groundbreaking recordings, conducted by founder Christopher Hogwood, number in the hundreds, and audiences have enjoyed their performances for over 30 years.
The ensemble is in Connecticut for a concert at UCONN’s Jorgensen Auditorium in Storrs, and I had the opportunity to talk with their current conductor, Richard Egarr about the ensemble and their place in the music world today.
